[Trump Responds to Israeli Airstrike on Qatar: 'It Won't Happen Again']
According to Jin10, U.S. President Trump stated that this morning, the Trump administration received notification from the U.S. military that Israel was attacking Hamas in Doha, Qatar. I immediately instructed Special Envoy Whitcoff to inform the Qataris of the impending attack; however, unfortunately, this action was not enough to prevent the attack from occurring. The airstrike on Doha, Qatar, was a decision made by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, not me. I have instructed U.S. Secretary of State Rubio to finalize a defense cooperation agreement with Qatar. I believe this unfortunate incident could serve as an opportunity for peace. Unilateral bombings within Qatar's territory will not advance the goals of either Israel or the United States, but eliminating Hamas is a goal worth pursuing. I spoke with the Emir and Prime Minister of Qatar over the phone and assured them that such incidents will not happen again on their soil.
