[Zelensky: Ukrainian and U.S. Teams to Hold Talks on the Possibility of Peace Negotiations with Russia]
According to CCTV News, as reported by Jinse Finance, on August 25 local time, Ukrainian President Zelensky met with visiting Norwegian Prime Minister Støre. At the joint press conference following the meeting, Zelensky stated that he would meet with U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Affairs Kellogg, who is currently visiting Ukraine. The Ukrainian side will also hold talks with the U.S. team this weekend to discuss the possibility of peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
Zelensky noted that the Ukrainian team is in close contact with the U.S. and other parties. Once a basic framework for security guarantees for Ukraine is reached, the Ukrainian side will rely on the U.S. to determine whether Russia is prepared to hold a meeting. He also mentioned that Norway has joined the program to purchase weapons from the U.S., and Ukraine hopes to receive at least $1 billion in support from this program each month.
At the press conference, Støre stated that Norway and Germany have provided Ukraine with two "Patriot" air defense systems and accompanying missiles to help Ukraine counter drone and missile attacks. He also announced plans to propose to the Norwegian Parliament an $8.5 billion aid package for Ukraine next year.
