Zilliqa: After the X-Bridge vulnerability, a new zETH token will be deployed to selectively relist X-Bridge

According to Foresight News, public chain Zilliqa has released an X-Bridge vulnerability exploitation report. Zilliqa discovered a vulnerability on X-Bridge on February 6th, which allows attackers to mint Zilliqa's cross chain version of native currency on Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain (BSC) without locking down the corresponding asset quantities on these networks. Through this vulnerability, the attacker generated 531 Zilliqa cross chain ETH (zETH) and 2.2133 Zilliqa cross chain BNB (zBNB). Zilliqa is implementing a series of corrective measures to safely relist X-Bridge and mitigate the impact of exploited zETH and zBNB contracts. Firstly, the affected zETH tokens will be deprecated and new zETH tokens will be deployed to retain the legitimate token balance as of Zilliqa mainnet block number 4465720 (generated on February 18, 2025 at 8:49), while deleting invalid tokens associated with the attacker. The affected X-Bridge contracts will be upgraded to perform stricter balance checks before minting cross chain assets to prevent unauthorized token creation. In the short term, X-Bridge will be relaunched with limited capacity.
